Audre Lorde

Audre Lorde (born Audrey Geraldine Lorde; February 18, 1934 – November 17, 1992) was an American writer, feminist, womanist, librarian, and civil rights activist. She was a self-described "Black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet," who dedicated both her life and her creative talent to confronting and addressing injustices in the U.S. and the world.

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” - Audre Lorde, 1988.

“If I didn’t define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive. “ - Andre Lorde, 1982.
