Due to the impacts of Hurricane Ida, much of New Orleans and surrounding areas creative community’s income has ceased indefinitely. Eternal Seeds, founded by Brandan bmike Odums, is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is rooted in serving that same creative community. We understand that natural disasters disproportionately affect the most vulnerable communities, and in New Orleans amongst those most vulnerable are the creative life blood of the city. Being displaced without warning, needing to sustain yourself and loved ones while away from your ability to earn a living can be difficult, especially for creatives who depend on non-traditional streams of income. We cannot imagine a New Orleans without the arts and culture that was born from rich histories of resistance and resilience. Preserving that culture and those who are a part of it is vital for this region’s recovery. Artists provide hope for us all, and we want to provide hope for artists.
